40x60 inches, charts on foamboard with various media--ink, oils, jelly, acrylics, nail polish, lipsticks, pencil, laser print, tempera and transfers of goddesses and gods. SDSU, Fall 1999. My ancient astrology site has a tribute to the Goddesses. Eighteen Korai (kore = Greek for "young woman") having had their Natal Horoscopes calculated and delineated (based on time, date and place of birth) were randomly assigned a number from 1 to 18 and given a copy of the astrological "birth imprint." They were then asked to physically imprint the paper on which the chart was printed using any part of their body and any method and media they wished. These 18 charts with the physical imprint were then collaged in order by the number assigned them and placed on foam-board. I then designed the border according to the overall composite energy of the 18 women (primarily water), and imprinted the border with my body. Transfers of the Greek Goddesses were then arranged around the display framing the women, with all the Goddesses that were reflected in the feminine archetypes 1 through 18. Intermingled with these only on the base are the masculine archetypal symbols for the male, Apollo the Sun God, Zeus, Mars, and Saturn. The Goddesses include: Amazons- The legendary female warriors. Artemis- Goddess of the hunt. Charities- The personifications of charm and beauty in nature and in human life. Athena- The Greek goddess of wisdom, war, the arts, industry, justice and skill. Demeter- The Greek earth goddess. Nike- Goddess of Victory. Nymphs- The spirits of nature, presiding in trees, meadows, caves, rivers, mountains, and the ocean.
